North Toronto Players is holding auditions for “Starship Pinafore (or: The Lass Who Loved a Trekkie)”. Music by Arthur Sullivan, Book and Lyrics by W.S. Gilbert (with help from Michael Harms and John Ricciardelli)

We are looking for singers with comedic ability. Familiarity with Gilbert and Sullivan, Opera and Operetta is a plus, but NTP is open to singers with contemporary or musical theatre singing styles.

Roles:

Ralph Rackstraw (a human) – Tenor romantic lead, character is M 20’s to early 30’s (familiarity with William Shatner’s delivery a plus).

B'sonn (a Vulcan) - Logically open to any gender or voice type. 

Cousin Hebe (A Dabo Girl any species) - Mezzo Soprano/Alto

We are also interested in Alien Cosplayers (Trek or any well known franchise) you can join the chorus or join the cast as a supernumerary or just a walk on - send pictures and we can talk about how you can be part of the show.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Music from the show will be provided to interested Actor/Singers. Singers could also prepare a piece from the Gilbert and Sullivan canon or a similar operetta or musical theatre piece appropriate to their voice type. An Accompanist will be provided (please submit a pdf of your sheet music in advance of the audition or bring a recording of your accompaniment). You will be asked to read a scene from the libretto at the audition. If you are not selected for a named role we invite you to join the chorus.

PRODUCTION DETAILS

Rehearsals for leads are part time and somewhat flexible until production week. Staging Rehearsals involving the Chorus are on Monday evenings with additional Saturday daytime rehearsals beginning in January. Leads only rehearsals will be arranged around the lead’s schedules.

The evening rehearsals leading up to opening night - Monday March 1st to Thursday March 5th are mandatory.

Starship Pinafore will Open Friday March 6 for 7 performances over two weekends: Mar 6, 7, 8 & 13, 14, 15

Auditions are open to Non Equity and Equity actors. Equity members will be engaged under the D.O.T. Amateur contract. NTP and its rehearsal and performance venues will follow current public health protocols. North Toronto Players is Non Profit and a registered charitable organization.
